7 Days in the Margaret River Region: A Spring Travel Itinerary

Paird Margaret River Region Spring 7 Day Travel Itinerary

Late November is a beautiful time to experience the Margaret River Region. Days are warm and sun-kissed, evenings turn cool and breezy, and the landscape feels alive as spring gives way to early summer. It’s a moment when the region begins to hum, without the crowds that arrive later in the season.

At Pair’d, we curate wine and food experiences shaped by the season, connecting people, place and producers in meaningful ways. In just two years, Pair’d Margaret River Region has rapidly become one of the most sought-after food and wine festivals in Australia, drawing travellers who plan their time here around curated experiences and once-in-a-lifetime events.

This seven-day itinerary is designed to be experienced before and during Pair’d (19 - 22 November 2026). It allows time to settle into the region, enjoy free mornings for exploration, immerse yourself in the festival, and finish with a proper pause before continuing your journey.

Monday: Arrive and settle in

Arrive via Perth, then enjoy the scenic three-hour drive south into the Margaret River Region. The journey itself sets the pace for the week ahead.

Take the afternoon slowly once you arrive. Check into your accommodation, unpack properly and get your bearings. (Need accommodation tips? Check out our partners here.)

If you’re travelling through or staying in Busselton, a walk along the iconic Busselton Jetty is a simple way to mark the shift from travel mode to holiday pace. Keep dinner close to where you’re staying and unhurried. The aim is to arrive rested, not rushed.

Tuesday: Coastlines, forests and spring light

Before the festival begins, spend a day connecting with the landscape. Late November sits in a gentle transition between seasons. Vineyards are full of fresh green growth, pockets of wildflowers linger along forest trails, and whales are still moving along the coastline.

Choose a slow adventure that suits your mood:

This day grounds you in the region and offers a deeper sense of place before the festival begins.

Wednesday: Caves, lighthouses and the edge of the continent

Wednesday is ideal for exploring some of the Margaret River Region’s more dramatic natural features, leaving wine and food discoveries for the festival days ahead.

Start underground with a visit to one of the region’s limestone caves, such as Jewel Cave or Mammoth Cave. These ancient spaces offer a striking contrast to the coastline and forests above.

In the afternoon, follow the road south towards Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. The drive itself is beautiful, winding through forest and farmland before opening out to expansive coastal views. It’s one of the most memorable vantage points in the South West and a reminder of how wild and elemental this part of the world can feel.

Finish the day back in town with a relaxed, early dinner.

Thursday to Sunday: Pair’d

Pair’d unfolds from Thursday to Sunday, with a rhythm that leaves space to explore as well as immerse yourself in the festival.

Mornings
Mornings during Pair’d are intentionally free. Start with coffee in town, wander local boutiques and galleries, or take a quiet walk along the coast. These slower moments are part of what makes the festival experience feel balanced and enjoyable.

Globally recognised as a surf destination and home to the WSL Margaret River Pro, the Margaret River Region offers the perfect excuse to catch a morning wave before Pair’d begins each day.

Afternoons and evenings
As the day unfolds, Pair’d fills the afternoons and evenings with a rich mix of experiences across vineyards, restaurants, coastlines and forest settings. The program is deliberately diverse, with something for every kind of wine and food lover. From tastings and long lunches to destination dining and celebrations that stretch into the night, many visitors choose to build out full festival days and experience the breadth of what Pair’d has to offer across multiple events.

Monday: Post-festival recovery

After several days of festival experiences, Monday is made for slowing down. Sleep in, enjoy something nourishing at a local wellness hub like MEND, then wander through local boutiques and galleries.

If the weather calls for it, spend the afternoon by the beach. A long walk, a swim, or simply sitting with a book and a coffee is often the perfect way to close out the week.
