Behind the Pair'd | Alex James
We’re thrilled to welcome Alex James to the Pair’d 2024 line-up, best known as the bassist of iconic Britpop band, Blur.
The musician turned cheese and wine maker, is the founder of an award-winning cheese range including Blue Monday, Goddess, and Grunge, as well as launching his first sparkling wine, Britpop.
With Pair’d just around the corner, in this blog we bring to you an exclusive interview with Alex, as we uncover his love for food and wine, and what he’s looking forward to at this year’s festival!
What is your favourite thing about the Margaret River Region?
Margaret River is a hotbed of independent food producers. The sunshine there just gives everything incredible intensity and flavour, particularly the wine. I’ve started producing my own wine since the last time I was there, so I’ll see how that squares up.
Tell us how you’re involved in Pair’d Margaret River Region this November?
I will be DJ’ing at Margaret’s Beach Club on Friday and Saturday, and I’ll also be at the Grand Tasting talking about my lifelong love affair with wine.
What is your ultimate pairing of wine, food or music?
I think food, wine and music is the ultimate holy trinity and I’m always looking for new combinations.
Sunshine’s probably the most important ingredient of all actually, and I think we’re pretty much guaranteed that, so bring it on!
What 3 things will you be packing in your suitcase to come to the Margaret River Region?
I like to go with an empty suitcase and come home with a full one - that’s the plan.
Alex will be appearing at Margaret’s Beach Club (15 & 16th November) and the Grand Tasting (17th November).
