Chris Gillmore
Chris Gillmore is the Company Viticulturist & Vineyard Manager at Clairault Streicker.
As Clairault Streicker are the owners and caretakers of four vineyards across the Margaret River region, fruit for their own portfolio is grown to purpose. The near 200 hectares under vine and 10 hectares of protea flowers, are overseen by Viticulturist Chris Gillmore.
Being brought up on a banana plantation in Carnarvon and working extensively in Horticulture, Chris has always been surrounded by farming. After relocating to the south-west for the waves and his young family, it wasn’t long before Chris moved into the viticulture industry.
Chris now has over 25 years experience in the grape growing industry, with 20 of those managing vineyards within the Clairault Streicker portfolio. In 2012, he completed his degree in Applied Science – Viticulture, and in 2021 he was awarded the Viticultural Excellence Award at the Margaret River Wine Show.
Chris’s approach in the vineyard is lead by longstanding biological and sustainable farming principles. He applies special attention-to-detail in the vineyard, including hands on practices such as pruning, solarisation, crop-thinning, leaf plucking and hand-picking.
All four vineyards are certified with Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, beginning back in 2009.
