David Moulton

Chief of Winemaking & Viticulture - Cape Mentelle

David Moulton is a true local. Born in Busselton, a small coastal town just 30 minutes from Margaret River, David began working in vineyards at 18. The experience sparked a love for wine and viticulture, and he continued to work for local wineries while completing his Bachelor of Science in Viticulture and Oenology at Curtin University. Aside from his experience in Margaret River, David has also worked in the Rutherglen and Great Western regions of Victoria and in the Rhone Valley, France. Joining Cape Mentelle in April 2014, David shares our dedication to sustainability and innovation. He was a founding member of the Sustainability Sub-Committee for the Margaret River Wine Association and, in 2020, received the Margaret River Wine Show Viticulture Excellence Award.

With over 20 years of experience under his belt, David is focused on leading a strong, proud and dedicated team. His passion for the legacy of Cape Mentelle is at the forefront, driving uncompromising quality across the vineyards and winery and ensuring this is reflected in every bottle. When he is not in the vineyards, he enjoys spending time with his young family and
being in or on the ocean.
