Paul Dixon
Paul Dixon’s journey into the wine industry began in 1992, shortly after completing technical school as a fitter and turner. Initially uncertain of his path, a relative suggested he assist with grape harvesting at several local vineyards in Margaret River, including Cullens, Mosswood, Happs, Ashbrook, and Moss Brothers. The experience sparked a deep enthusiasm and passion for winemaking, and under the guidance of the Moss Brothers, Paul learned every aspect of the industry.
Paul spent 13 years with Moss Brothers, during which he realised his true calling. He completed a six-year correspondence winemaking course, earning a Bachelor of Applied Science (Wine Science) from Charles Sturt University. His thirst for knowledge led him to Vasse Felix in 2005, where he spent seven years honing his skills with some of the best winemakers in the region. Currently, Paul is the Chief Winemaker at Thompson Estate, known for its premium Chardonnay, Cabernet, and Bordeaux blends. The last 13 years at Thompson Estate, under the mentorship of Peter Thompson, have been marked by significant achievements and recognition. Paul’s experience as a wine judge at local and national shows has further refined his craft, contributing to the winery’s reputation for producing internationally acclaimed wines
